Quick Prevention Tips for Suspicious Emails: 

• Previewing an email is opening it! There is just a slightly reduced risk of viruses due to Outlook security settings. 
• Users should check their Outlook settings to ensure it is set at the maximum-security settings.
• Never use the same email address and password combination for multiple accounts, yes it’s easier, but long term it won’t be. Especially if you use one of the links in the email and “log in”.
• Make sure you install new Windows updates. Yes, it can be time consuming, but these help greatly to protect you from the latest virus attacks, hackers etc.  
• Do not open attachments! Especially .zip files that look suspicious.
• As a precaution, hover your mouse over the “From” name and any links embedded in the body of the email. If the email or link address looks unusual, such as letters or numbers added to a brand name – don’t click on it.   For a double measure, open a web browser and type in the link yourself. If there is a “click here” link, don’t open it. You do not know where the hyperlink will take you.
• Your bank will never send you an email, asking you to disclose personal information.
• E-mails that seem urgent or warn that your account will be closed or had an “unauthorized login attempt” – mark as junk and delete.
• Check spelling and grammar and also if the greeting is generic not personal to you.
